They finally took down the tree that was about to fall on our house! |
fun fact
Barbara dropped us
okay
no that's not fun
so I guess it's just a fact
but the Spirit was there when we bore testimony and she promised to continue reading the Book of Mormon and call us when she knows it's true.
We got to go to Davids catfish house twice this week which was definitely a huge blessing and all in good company:)
First was with Sister and Brother Taylor
Oh my goodness how I love these two lovebirds!
They wait on each other hand and foot, they love each other so much and serve one another to the point that sometimes I wonder if they are even human.
It's adorable
Sister Taylor has taught me a number of things over the years
(past six months)
here are a few
-When going skinny dipping in your own backyard, be leery of men working on water towers nearby.
-Native American heritage is to be taken VERY seriously and if you disrespect..... just don't disrespect
-Marry someone willing to build you a shelter if you ever go on a survival show together.
-If someone is drunk and you think he might be dead, don't yell really loud it might wake him up.
-Treat your mom right
-Native Americans believe in a matriarch society, so if you have Native American heritage it gives you the rite to apply that to yourself ;)
maybe this is an appropriate time to shout out to my distant relative Pocahontas ;)
Anyway, I love Sister Taylor and good news! Brother Taylor is cancer free, his tests came back. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a while ago, they removed a tumor the size of a soft ball, and now he is doing well.
It's a miracle that he is alive.
we had a good time
#bingobongo
A couple of days later I got a cute phone call from Miss Cherry who is one of my very favorite people from Crestview. Her and Johnny who also unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer, came to visit me because I am leaving so soon. I love hem tremendously and can't wait to hunt down Johnny's daughter who lives in Roy UTAH. It was SO good to see these lovely people again, I love them bunches.
Last week I had another bug incident and took two Benadryl right before our last lesson of the day with Johnny and Rhoda...
I'm low key not sure what happened exactly and I may have fallen asleep once
I remember singing princess songs with Kenna their three year old granddaughter who is probably one of my very best friends
but by the end of the lesson we were discussing baptismal dates for both JOHNNY AND RHODA
over the next few days we taught some lessons, Johnny quit drinking tea and coffee, we watched The Restoration movie with them and three fourths of us were in tears
Sister Palmer is past feeling ;) jk
Johnny may or may not have left after it was over to go in another room and cry
Rhoda and I were tearful, she expressed her love for and testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Book of Mormon, and the legacy that he left under the direction of Jesus Christ Himself.
{one of the high-light lessons of my mission for sure}
Rhoda and Johnny Wright plan on being baptized tomorrow evening and sealed in the temple in a year!
PRAY FOR THEM
the sad news
a whole boatload of opposition hit the Nelson family last weekend and Curtis' baptism was canceled
They didn't go to church, haven't been reading scriptures, or praying but now recognize how the adversary has been winning because of that.
Sounds crazy but I've seen it over and over again.
If the three legged table of church, prayer, and scriptures is de-legged on any side, the adversary starts to get in.
if they are all de-legged (idk if that's a word, sorry)
then God allows us to be humbled to the max.
Luckily Rachel and Curtis are very humble now and Curtis still has a very strong desire to get baptized.
pray for them
The Kelleys are finally back from their trip to Utah, and Brother Kelley is now the new branch mission leader!
We have enjoyed the past few days and meetings in their home, I have learned so much from them.
One thing I have learned from the Spirit this week--
"How can we make sure we love people so that we teach them by the Spirit and our/the Saviors love for them is felt?"
"If we know them, we will love them"
If you know someone, you cannot help but love them
take your worst enemy
or someone that really gets on your nerves
if you asked them enough questions about their life, heard their story, and got to know them
you would love them.
If someone is ever irritating you, get to know them
you will love them.
The Savior loves us because He knows us perfectly!
I know I've said this recently already, but I feel like it's EXTREMELY important
This week Johnny Wright who's middle name is actually Perry not Ray
I got that wrong, and he read my blog and let me know ;)
Sometimes my southern isn't as good as it should be so I have to remind people, they didn't give me any language training in the MTC
;)
JK I sound just like them probably
Well first of all can I just take a moment to express my deepest and most sincere love for the Wrights
Rhoda is one of the most amazing spiritual and knowledgeable people I have ever met, Johnny is so kind and thoughtful even though sometimes he tries to hide that from us.
They plan on bronzing the chair that I always sit in, in memory of me ;)
I reminded them that I'm going to want to come back someday soon and sit in "my" chair, and if it's bronzed that won't be very comfortable.
Johnny has been thinking of ways to kidnap me, but Rhoda reminded him that kidnapping is against the law so that's not going to work
Oh how I love these two humans.
Johnny said at one point
"You're not ever gonna quit being a missionary are you? You're going to just keep on after you're home"
"That's right Johnny, can't seem to turn it off"
and Rhoda said one of the sweetest prayers, my heart was very touched
"Thank you God for sending my sisters to me, they are the best thing that could've happened to our life."
There is no greater work than the work of the salvation of souls I'm convinced!
I love being a missionary!
I love people, the world, the south, the Lord.
I love you and you and you and even you ;)
have a fabulous week :)
